CAPE YORK
FISHING & 4WD TOUR

Cape York is Australia's last frontier & offers the adventurous traveler the opportunity to experience a wilderness with pristine creeks & wild river systems that remain virtually untouched. There are animal & bird species here that are found nowhere else in the country. (Evidence of the land connection to New Guinea that once existed.

Cape York is renowned for it's fishing & at this time of year, rivers & estuaries produce good results. Species include barramundi, mangrove jack & queenfish. We have secured the services of a professional fishing guide who will travel with us, offering a great opportunity to bag the fish of your dreams. Mario has a wealth of knowledge about this area, in particular Lakefield & surrounds. He is an acknowledged expert on local wildlife including reptiles of the area. Bring your own gear (a short rod is best) we will provide a 12 ft tinny for use in rivers & waterholes. As well as Mario's expert guidance, we have included a full day with a sport-fishing safari up the top.

We haven't forgotten the four-wheel drive enthusiast. Our route to the top provides a challenge lasting two days as we negotiate the overland telegraph track. The Overland Telegraph Line was completed in 1887 linking the mainland with the islands of Torres Straight. There are numerous water crossings & opportunities to swim under crystal clear waterfalls.

Tour commences at Mossman & travels north on the infamous Bloomfield track through the world heritage listed Daintree rainforest. There are visits to historic hotels, spectacular waterfalls & mysterious mountains before arriving at Cooktown where you can check out the sites, before moving on to the night's beach camp.

The next section takes us to Lakefield National Park & a spot of barra fishing. There are also beautiful lily covered lagoons & secluded waterways to enjoy with bush camping.

Further north there is the telegraph track & the satisfaction of meeting this challenge before arriving at the top.
Beach drives, fishing charters; a tour to Thursday Island or just time to relax can be had during our time at the top.

After we make our way back down the middle of the Cape we take a diversion to Chillagoe to finish. Chilligoe is a great place to end the tour & we recommend you allow an extra day here, as there are many things to see. I.E. Limestone cave tours, Historic Smelters. Ford enthusiast's collection to name a few.

This tour has a bit of everything, so if you love a challenge - love to fish - love adventure & are short on time ?

This could be the one for you.
